From 16-22 November 2009, exciting young theatre company eyebaby revives their sell-out Drill Hall run of Lilly & May at the King's Head Theatre, Islington. Kym Martin sensitively directs fellow Australian and award-winning playwright Patricia Cornelius' gem of a play, which explores the tempestuous relationship between two homeless women. Their fight for survival owes less to the dangers of life on the streets and more to their complex bond. They need each other, they resist each other: Lilly and May are bound together. Alexis Leighton (Lilly) and Andrea Sadler (May) challenge preconceptions about homelessness. This is a paradoxical world of material need and spiritual freedom, watched over by the Brechtian figure of live musician Adrian Salmon. Running Time: 1:00pm - 1:45pm (no interval) |
