A CHRISTMAS CAROL at the Kings Head Theatre Running Time: 90 mins (no interval) “A masterpiece of theatre” ***** FRINGE REVIEW - RICHARD FRANKLIN
Back by popular demand! MokitaGrit Productions present their critically acclaimed production of "A Christmas Carol" at the Kings Head Theatre this Christmas. Revel in the joy of Christmas as a vibrant cast of multi-talented actors, musicians, children and puppets bring to life this musical adaptation of Charles Dickens' inspirational novel. Phil Willmott's inventive adaptation places the narrative in a Victorian back street inn where Dickens conjures up a world of ghosts, magic, hardship and hope to delight his publisher. Rapidly drawing in a crowd of local punters, Dickens takes them on a whirlwind trip through the past, present and future of tight fisted Ebenezer Scrooge, including a peek into the family life of his clerk, whose son, Tiny Tim, just may be the key to unlocking the old miser's heart. Let our multi award winning creative team take you on a journey of hope, with toe-tapping tunes, a pinch of snow and a dash of Christmas Eve. FRINGE REVIEW – RICHARD FRANKLIN ***** “If you yearn for a real theatrical experience, in which magic is woven out of thin air and a small Victorian pub in Islington knocks the multi-million facilities of a Palladium into a cocked hat, in which your imagination is tickled into believing the impossible; where ghosts fly before your very eyes and emotions whirl you off your feet, then if this is the rare theatrical experience you yearn for, I can only recommend that you make sure you don't miss this stunning offering in Upper Street.” “Superlatives are only just good enough to describe this production” “A uniformly talented and versatile cast” “A masterpiece of theatre”
THE STAGE – FRANCESCA WHITING “It’s impossible not to get into the Christmas spirit with this heart-warming and truly entertaining show and it’s certainly one the whole family will enjoy”
TIME OUT – ROBERT SHORE Joe Fredericks’ bustling handsome-looking production…the aisles are stuffed with picturesque urchins and indigents, and there are scenes aplenty of warm-hearted Victorians having a right old cock-er-nee knees up.”
BRITISH THEATRE GUIDE – HOWARD LOXTON “This is decidedly a feel-good show…will put you in a splendidly Christmas mood”
LONDON THEATRE – PETER BROWN “A well-crafted and hugely entertaining show” “Excellent festive fare”
THEATRE WORLD MAGAZINE – CLIVE BURTON “As lavish a production as you’re ever likely to see” “This invigorating production succeeds in encouraging us all to re-consider our lives and evaluate what Christmas should mean to us and our fellow men”
MAGPIE BROWN “Should cure even the staunchest Scrooge of the ‘bah humbugs’!”
PUBLIC REVIEW – IAN FOSTER “Fringe musical theatre at its best: accomplished, inventive and, above all, highly enjoyable” “A cast of 16 effortlessly sing, play and dance their way through this familiar tale with such inventiveness and vibrancy that you could not feel more festive by the end if you tried”
THE TIMES – SAM MARLOWE “Revoltingly sentimental”
